  • ON Culture Days September 24-October 24, 2021. Calling all artists! Promote your work by leading a virtual activity on the Brampton Library Culture Days hub. Click here for details.
    Culture Days 2021

Brampton Library has been a key organizer for local artists and culture groups of all kinds for many years through its Ontario Culture Days Hub. We are inspiring connections with talented individuals of all ages and we invite you to join us!

Due to COVID-19, our Culture Days presentations and performances will be virtual again in 2021. This year’s theme, to RE:IMAGINE culture after a challenging time, underlines our priority to showcase traditional and new artistic interpretations and share the unexpected creative projects emerging in the growing digital space.

Opportunities for interaction over the exciting month of Culture Days (September 24 -- October 24, 2021) are many and varied: Art lovers and creators can enjoy chatting with a musician in a live session, or learn how an author thickens a plot, or a culinary artist creates a beautiful blossom from an ordinary radish. Learn a new dance step, create a fun craft with your family, enjoy the serenity of a landscape in watercolour or relax in a yoga session. All virtual activities are free to explore, enjoy and participate in 24/7 for the entire month.

We invite artists from various disciplines to join our Ontario Culture Days Hub to share live sessions, digital recordings, self-guided tours, and more.

Whether you are an amateur or professional, everyone is encouraged to get involved, promote their businesses, and sell their products during their event.

To secure a spot and receive assistance with your Culture Days application, please contact Surita Dey at sdey@bramlib.on.ca

    Then & Now Photo Challenge

Participants of the Adult Summer Reading Club (ASRC) are invited to the “Then & Now Photo Challenge” held in partnership with the Brampton Historical Society

Each Thursday from July 8th-August 26th, registered ASRC members will be emailed a historical photo of a Brampton location. Your challenge:

    1. Register for the 2021 Adult Summer Reading Club and check your inbox (or spam folder) for the weekly emails.

    2. Go to the location of the original, historical photo featured in that week’s email.

    3. Email back an original, present-day photo of the same location by the following Monday.

    It’s as easy as 1-2-3!

Each photo submitted will earn you an extra ballot into the bi-weekly prize draw for a $25 gift card. What’s more, the best photo of the week will earn an extra ballot into the top grand prize draw for a $250 Downtown Brampton BIA gift card and will be featured on our social media channels later that week!

So get those masks on, that sunscreen lathered, and those old-timey cameras loaded or smartphones charged for this blast from the past.
